BETTY P. HORTON

LOUISBURG - Betty Perry Horton, 75, of Louisburg, passed away July 18, 2017 at the William M. Dunlap Center for Caring. She was born in Wake County to the late James H. Perry and Euna Morris Perry Newton.

Mrs. Horton retired from Westinghouse/ABB/Elster after 37 years of service where she manufactured electrical meters, oversaw the repairs process and final meter testing.

She enjoyed bluegrass music, however cooking was her passion and she often helped lift people's spirits with her many dishes.

Mrs. Horton was a member of Ransdell Chapel Baptist Church and will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her.

Friends may visit with the family from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service with a funeral service following at 2 p.m., Friday afternoon, July 21, 2017 at Ransdell Chapel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Horton is survived by her children, John W. Blackwell, Jr. and wife Tammy of Apex and Cyndi Blackwell of Garner; step-children, Lisa Johnson and husband Timmy of Louisburg and Terry Horton and wife Terry of Wake Forest; brother, Charles Perry and wife Nancy of Holly Springs; grandchildren, Brittany Blackwell Canfield and husband Kyle and John W. "Trey" Blackwell, III; many nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, R.L. "Jim" Horton and a brother, James "Buck" Perry.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Transitions Life-Care, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
