DONALD W. "DON" BASS

YOUNGSVILLE--Donald W. "Don" Bass, 84,died Tuesday morning Aug. 15, 2017 at his residence. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, at Flat Rock Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gary McNair officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

He was born in Dudley, NC on Aug. 27, 1932, the son of the late Lula L. Peele Bass and Marion B. Bass. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother; Frank Bass; sisters, Mable Turnage, Hilda B. Radford, Tabatha B. Best, Edna B. Bateman and Ruth B. Johnson.

Surviving: his wife, Carolyn; son, Mike Bass of Bridgeton; stepson, Craig Jones (Melissa); stepdaughters, Jill Holmes (Allen), Nancy Burdette (Terry) and Pam Bailey; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; and many special nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions can be made to Flat Rock Baptist Church Building Fund, 1529 Flat Rock Church Road, Louisburg, NC 27549 or to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105

Friends may visit with the family immediately following the burial in the church fellowship building.
