JERRY LEE CROSS

ZEBULON - Jerry Lee Cross, 75, died October 7, 2017 at his home. He was born in Durham, NC on October 5, 1942 to the late Ruth Reams Cross and Clifford Lee Cross. Jerry lived a life dedicated to his family, friends and NC History.

He received his undergraduate from Lenoir Rhyne College, MA and PHD from State University of NY at Binghampton and post graduate work at UNC. He was an instructor at NY State University as well as a Research Historian for The Division of Archives and History in Raleigh for 30 years.

Jerry was also a historical consultant for Hern Brothers Map Makers, American Geographic Map Makers, and CCM Production Company, which was making a movie about Tryon Palace and American Heritage. Jerry did the research on which the Restoration of Halifax is based.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carolyn Cross; daughters: Katherine Cross (Arthur) and Suzanne Gardner (Mike); grandchildren: Stephanie Bingham (Jared), Jonathan Tyler Gardner, and Andrew Gardner.

At his request there will be no public service. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to Boys & Girls Club of Zebulon, 1320 Shepard School Road, Zebulon, NC 27597.
