PHILIP GERALD INSCOE

WAKE FOREST-Philip Gerald Inscoe was born December 15, 1927. He left us to be with his Lord on December 2, 2017 after his battle with cancer.

He is survived by his children, Emily Jo Turnage, Jerrianne Inscoe Harvey and her husband Rob, all of Wake Forest, NC, and a daughter-in-law, Liz Inscoe Webster of Hickory, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip Ray Inscoe and Josephine Wilder Inscoe of Castalia, NC; his wife of 61 years, Anne Stark Inscoe; his son, Philip Stark Inscoe of Chesapeake, VA. He is also survived by four beautiful granddaughters - Meredith Poore and her husband Dave, Ashley Harris and her husband Brad, all of Charlotte, NC, Minda Harvey and Megan Harvey of Wake Forest, NC. He had four great-grandchildren, Lilah Poore, Cooper Poore, Hadley Harris and Lucy Harris of Charlotte, NC.

Phil was an educator for most of his adult life. He was President of Frederick Military Academy in Portsmouth, VA from 1961 - 1976. He was Headmaster at Vance Academy in Henderson, NC and Headmaster at Harrells Christian Academy in Harrells, NC. Before heading into retirement, he was a Guidance Counselor at Bunn High School. Instead of living the life of leisure in his later years, he decided to go back to work as director for the preschool at Wake Forest Baptist Church. He greeted the children every morning with a smile, a fist bump and a silly hat for 10 years. All knew him as "Mr. Phil".

A memorial service honoring Phil's life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 16th, at Wake Forest Baptist Church with Dr. Bill Slater officiating. A reception will be held afterwards in the fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Wake Forest Baptist Church Building Fund or the American Cancer Society.

A service of Bright Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 405 S. Main St., Wake Forest. (919) 556-5811
