JAMES "JIM" EAVES UNDERWOOD

YOUNGSVILLE--James "Jim" Eaves Underwood, 88, of Youngsville passed away on Wednesday evening December 13, 2017 at Rex Hospital. He was born in Charlotte, the son of the late Ruby Eaves Underwood and Jack J. Underwood. Mr. Underwood was also preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Green Underwood, and a brother, Perrin Underwood.

Mr. Underwood led a life of service to others. He was a long-time mayor of Youngsville and a lifetime member of the Lions Club. He was a former scout master for the Boy Scouts, a deacon in the Youngsville Baptist Church and a long-time volunteer with Meals on Wheels. An avid woodworker and electrician, he was always willing to lend a hand to support the community.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, December 17, 2017, in the Youngsville Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Charles Stratton officiating. Burial will follow in the Youngsville Cemetery.

Mr. Underwood is survived by his children; Rob Underwood and wife, Charlotte of Indialantic, FL, Greg Underwood and wife, Sally of Charlotte, and Cora U. Lee and husband, Jim of West Chester, OH; grandchildren; James Underwood, Robert Underwood, Cora Katherine Lee Jones and husband Torin, Parker Lee and Elizabeth Underwood.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Youngsville Baptist Church, P.O. Box 297, Youngsville, NC 27596.
