FRANKLINTON--Dorothy Elizabeth Edwards Payne, 93, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017. The family will receive friends Thursday, Dec. 28, from 1-1:45 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Corinth Baptist Church, 4582 U.S. 401 Hwy. North, Louisburg. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. in the church cemetery.

She was born to the late Thomas and Luvenia Adcock Edwards. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Wesley Payne, Sr.; and her 10 other siblings.

Surviving: son, Jimmy Payne (Linda) of Franklinton; daughter, Rhonda P. Bracknell (Chris) of Cripple Creek, Va.; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.

She was the secretary, treasurer, and manager of Franklinton Savings and Loan for more than 20 years.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Corinth Baptist Church, 4582 U.S. 401 Hwy. North, Louisburg, NC 27549 or to a charity of one's choice.
