ROBERT M. SHUMSKY
June 22, 1943 - January 3, 2018

YOUNGSVILLE - Robert "Bob" Michael Shumsky, 74, of Youngsville, NC passed away on January 3, 2018.

Robert was a son of the late John and Margaret H. Shumsky. He was born in Hudson, NY and graduated from St. Mary's Academy in 1962. He served in the United States Air Force from January 1963 to 1966. In January 1967, Bob began working at Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation until his early retirement in 1994 as a foreman in the Line Department. In September 1969, he married his devoted wife. In 1972 he moved to North Creek, NY in the Adirondacks to raise his family. Bob enjoyed hunting, ice fishing, woodworking, reading, RV camping and helping others.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Eva (Zlomek) Shumsky; daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Sean Fallon of Rolesville, NC; sons and daughter-in-law, Michael and Desiree Shumsky of Wake Forest, NC; Kevin Shumsky and Christopher Smith of McPherson, Kansas; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Ann and Charles Vieni of Claverack, NY; Maureen and Fred Scott; Kate and Roger Heermans; brother and sister-in-law, John and Sandra Shumsky, all of Murrells Inlet, SC; grandchildren, Hudson, Kelsey and Delaney Shumsky.

A funeral mass to celebrate his life will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2018 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 520 W. Holding Ave., Wake Forest, NC.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Heart Association.
