SHIRLEY C. FAULKNER (Jan. 5, 1936 – Sept. 23, 2007)
LOUISBURG – Shirley Cole Faulkner, 71, of Louisburg, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday evening.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Joel Wilton Faulkner. Shirley was a daughter of the late Allen Lewis and Rosa Lee Puckett Cole, Sr. and was a native of Granville County. She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Cole. Shirley was a faithful and devoted member of Hill King United Methodist Church.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with the Rev. Rhonda Maurer officiating. Entombment will follow at Hill King United Methodist Church Cemetery.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sisters and brothers in-law, Mary Frances and L. Douglas Jones of Oxford, Joyce Ball of Dallas, TX, Judy and Joe Milton of Wilton, Ann and Jerry Kittrell of Goldsboro, Elaine and Edgar Hilliard of Henderson, Mildred and Willard Jackson of Kittrell; brothers and sisters in-law, Lewis and Carolyn Cole, James and Jane Cole, all of Kittrell, Dennis and Pat Cole of Yanceyville, Bobby and Ann Cole of Oxford; sister and brother in-law, Sue and Preston Alford; brother and sister in-law, Bobby and Elizabeth Faulkner, all of Louisburg; sister in-law, Janet Cole of Henderson; 21 nieces; 20 nephews; 34 great-nieces; 35 great-nephews; 6 great-great-nieces; 4 great-great-nephews.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Hill King United Methodist Church, Building Fund, c/o Janice Southerland, 668 Stone-Southerland Rd., Louisburg, NC 27549.

The family received friends 7 – 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Strickland Funeral Home, 103 W. Franklin St., Louisburg.
