INEZ J. CRATER (June 8, 1938 – May 14, 2006)
MIDDLESEX - Rachel Inez Jeffreys Crater, 67, of 13543 Burgess Rd., Middlesex, a resident of the Rocky Cross Community, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Sunday, Mother’s Day at 7:30 pm, after spending a wonderful weekend with her cherished family. Inez had fought a courageous battle with Lung Cancer since November 2003.

Inez was born in Franklin County, the daughter of the late Willie and Seddie Perkerson Jeffreys. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold B. (Cotton) Mullen and a sister, Willie Mae Fuller.

Funeral service will be held 2 o’clock Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at Strickland Funeral Home Chapel, Wendell, with Reverend Mark Tondee officiating. Burial will follow in Bunn Memorial Gardens.

She is survived by her devoted husband, James Bruce Crater, Jr.; daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa Mullen Makar and Mike of Zebulon and Anita Mullen Batkoski and Donald of Zebulon; grandchildren, Krystal Scott and husband, Eddie, Joey and Elijah Batkoski, Micala, Madison and Mason Makar; great granddaughter, Hannah Scott; stepchildren, James Bruce Crater, III and wife, Beverly of Tampa, FL, and Leigh Crater Liston of Charleston, SC; step grandchildren; James Bruce Crater, IV and Lauren Anne Liston; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lucille and Gene Newell of Bunn, Ernestine and Wayne Hagwood of Louisburg; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy Ray and Melanie Jeffreys of Louisburg, Donald E. and Rachel Jeffreys of Bunn; several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Virgil Rose, MD, and the nursing staff of Cancer Centers of North Carolina and the Community Home Care and Hospice of Franklin County, and her family and friends for their unrelenting care of Inez during her illness. We will never forget them.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made In memory of Inez Crater to Calvary Baptist Tabernacle (Landscape Fund), 394 Ferrells Bridge Rd., Louisburg, NC 27549.

The family received friends 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Strickland Funeral Home, 211 W. Third St., Wendell, and other times at her home.
