ALLEN B. JONES
WILMINGTON - Allen Bankert Jones, 87, died Saturday, April 19, 2008 at his residence. A private burial service will be conducted at the St. James Episcopal Churchyard in Boydton, Va.

He was born in Franklinton to the late Richard Thorpe Jones and Fannie Belle Allen.

He graduated from Broughton High School in Raleigh. A veteran of WWII, he served in the U.S. Navy in North Africa.

His career was in radio. He retired in 1983.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Sarah Weisiger Jones, and a stepdaughter, Noel Chamberlin.

Surviving: his wife, Faith Memory Jones of the home; daughter, Sally Freelove (Bill) of Greenville; brother, Thorpe Jones (Elva) of Greensboro; and one granddaughter.

Memorials may be made to New Hanover County Library in his memory, 201 Chestnut Street, Wilmington, NC 28401.

Arrangements handled by Wilmington Burial and cremation Service, Wilmington.
