MARY T. EAKES
FRANKLINTON - Mary Frances Todd Eakes, 88, formerly of Franklinton, died Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at Wake Medical Center in Cary. A service celebrating her life will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 29, at Franklinton Baptist Church, followed by a visit with the family in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

She was the daughter of the late Mary Dean Todd and James Todd of Wendell. She often worked together with her husband, Dr. Spurgeon Eakes, at his dental office.

Surviving: her husband, Dr. Spurgeon Eakes; her twin sister, Dorothy Painter of South Carolina; her sister, Eva Finch of Harkers Island; sons, Wallace Eakes (Marsha) of Camarillo, Calif., Spencer Eakes of Miama, Fla., and Howard Eakes (Janie) of Raleigh; daughter, Cheryl Todd of Mountain Brook, Ala.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, Stuart Eakes, and two brothers, James Todd and Edward Todd.

Flowers are welcome or memorial gifts may be made to Franklinton Baptist Church, 108 W. Mason Street, Franklinton, NC 27525.

Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 p.m. today (Saturday, June 28) at Bright Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 405 S. Main St., Wake Forest, NC 27587.
