GARNER - Dr. Georgia Vivian Alston Jones died Friday, June 27, 2008. Funeral service will be Thursday, 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 101 S. Wilmington Street, downtown Raleigh. Interment will follow in Carolina Biblical Gardens. Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. prior to the service.

She was born in Franklin County, the middle child of the late George Washington Alston and Ellen Seabrook Alston. She worked in the nursing field for a period of time, then continued her education, receiving a doctoral degree in education. She and her husband, the late Manson Otis Jones Sr., built and ran a rest home.

Surviving: two sons, Herman LeVern Jones (Carolyn) of Raleigh and Manson tis Jones Jr. of Raleigh; and two grandchildren. Her sisters and brother were the late Dr. Mozelle McKay, the late Agnes Clarkson and the late Bernice S. Moses Burke.
