CHARLIE ABE JOHNSON
ZEBULON - Charlie Abe Johnson, 92, of the Coventry House, died Saturday afternoon, Aug. 2, 2008 at Rex Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Aug. 5, in the Strickland Funeral Home chapel in Wendell. Burial followed in Gethesemane Memorial Gardens in Zebulon.

He was born in Franklin County, son of the late Charlie D. and Bertie Ray Johnson. He was a retired rate clerk with Trailways Bus Line.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jessie Raper Johnson; sisters and brothers, Lucille Jeans, Betty Thelma Glueck, Irene Johnson, Wes, Sherwood, Brownie, C.H. and Ulysses Johnson.

Surviving: his wife, Barbara Lewis Johnson of Sanford; sons, Charlie A. Johnson Jr. (Kelly) of Glendale, Ariz., and Larry D. Johnson (Amy) of Wendell; sister, Sarah Pearce of Zebulon; and four grandchildren.
