JAMES K. SPENCER JR.
KITTRELL - James Kade Spencer Jr., 82, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008 at his home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15, at Plank Chapel United Methodist Church by the Rev. Carol Dean and the Rev. Bud Budzinski. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Born in Franklin County, he was the son of the late James Kade Spencer Sr. and Lois Poythress Spencer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving during World War II, and was the owner and operator of Buffalo Milling Company.

Surviving: his wife, Marilove Moss Spencer; two daughters, Wanda Bullard (Michael) of Manson and Dianne S. Benton (Clay) of Angier; two sons, James Kade Spencer III (Brooks) of Ocala, Fla., and Johnnie Daryl Spencer (Christine) of Kittrell; one brother, Ernest T. Spencer of Louisburg; sisters, Faye Spencer of Louisburg and Joyce S. Pernell of Warrenton; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one granddaughter; his siblings, Jean Faulkner, Ann Hunt, Carl Spencer and Ray Spencer.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Plank Chapel Fellowship Hall.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Plank Chapel United Methodist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 507, Kittrell, N.C. 27544 or The Christen Foundation in memory of James K. Spencer, 1937 NC 39 Highway North, Louisburg, N.C. 27549.
