PAUL “WINSTON” JONES

RALEIGH - Paul “Winston” Jones 72, of Raleigh, went to be with his Lord on Sat., Jan. 10th, 2009.

He was born in Franklin County to the late Willard Jones and Alma Pearce Jones. He was a graduate of Bunn High School and a general contractor for most of his life.

He was the greatest, most loving husband, father, and papa and very devoted to his family and friends. He was married to his beloved wife for 52 years.

He retired from Davidson & Jones Construction after many years and went on to be a consultant for Johnson Lexus until his first aneurysm two years ago.

He was a deacon in the church for many years and very involved in church activities at Pilot, Temple and Emmanuel Baptist Church. He was an avid NCSU sports fan, dedicated fisherman, golfer and always had a smile on his face and never met a stranger. He was very involved in the community and in the Army & Air Force Reserves, the Raleigh Civitan Club, UCT and Lions Park Seniors Club.

He will be missed every day by his family and remembered for his never-ending jokes and his cooking, especially his ham biscuits. He wanted to return to the family farm.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Alford Jones; his daughters, Marcia Edwards (Bobby), Mary Ann Masterman (Ronnie), Dottie Jones and his beloved grandchildren: Bryce, Emily and Paula; his brother George Jones (Chrissy); and sisters Ann Faison (Joe) and Margaret Baucom (Jasper), sister-in-law, Alice J. Jones; aunts, Tina Finch and Jessie Hendricks; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard & Alma Jones, and brothers, Carol, Daniel and Terry.

The family received friends at Massey Funeral Home, Zebulon, from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12, and funeral was Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Pilot Baptist Church.

At other times the family will receive friends at the home of Mary Ann Masterman.
