BERTHA M. HOLDEN


YOUNGSVILLE - Bertha Mason Holden, 89, died Friday evening, March 6, 2009 at her residence. Funeral services were Monday morning, March 9, at Wake Union Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.

She was born in Wake County, daughter of the late Tinie Lowery Mason and James Wellons Mason. She was a life-time member of Wake Union Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, WMU president, choir member and on many committees through the years. She and her husband owned and operated Holden’s Bar-B-Que in Youngsville.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Foster Mason and Vance Mason; and sister, Lois Pleasants.

Surviving: husband, B. P. Holden; daughters, Judy H. (John) Hill of Rock Hill, S.C., Ginny H. Keith (Charles) of Youngsville; sons, Neil (Deborah) Holden of Youngsville, Randy Holden (fiancée, Carol) of Youngsville; sister, Bessie M. Staples of Cape Corral, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
