LOUISBURG – Vera Gray  Dorsey Tharrington, 76, died Saturday afternoon, April 25, 2009 at her home. Funeral services were Tuesday in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home in Louisburg, with the Rev. Henry Stamper and the Rev. Blake Stallings officiating. Burial followed in Lancaster Memorial Park.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Tharrington; father, Beecher T., and mother, Emily H. Dorsey; and her brother, Talmadge Dorsey.

Surviving: daughters, Pat Collins (Ben) of Raleigh, Sandra Shearin (Larry) of Louisburg, Lisa Wilder and (Wayne) of Louisburg; sisters, Barbara Layton, Brenda Burnette and Linda Shearon, all of Louisburg, and Jackie Parrish of Raleigh; brothers, Elwood Dorsey and Sherman Dorsey, both of Louisburg; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
