ZEBULON - U.S. Army retired Staff Sergeant Johnnie Mack Stewart died Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, April 28, at Mitchell Funeral Home, Raleigh. Burial was in Briercreek Memorial Gardens with military honors.

Surviving: wife, Iris Burnette Stewart; children, Mary Blankenship (Allen) of Colonial Heights, Va., Melvin Johnny Stewart of Clayton and Manfred Stewart of Richmond, Va.; stepchildren, Anthony B. Evans (Beth) of Littleton, Clifton Reid Evans (Theresa) of Florida, Marsha Nivison (Karl) of Raleigh; brother, Walter Davis (Ann) of Garner; stepsisters, Helen Morgan of Garner and Catherine Younger of Michigan; and eight grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Faith Baptist Church, 2728 Marks Creek Road, Knightdale, NC 27545, in memory of Johnnie Mack Stewart.
