BERRY “B.P.” HOLDEN JR.


YOUNGSVILLE - Berry Patterson (B.P.) Holden Jr., 91, died Thursday evening, Oct. 15, 2009 at his home.  Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 18, at  Wake Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Painter officiating.  Burial followed in the Wake Union Baptist Church cemetery.

He was born and raised in Franklin County, the son of the late Willie Hicks Holden and Berry Patterson Holden Sr. He and his wife started, owned and operated Holden’s Bar-B-Que in Youngsville until their retirement.  He was a World War II veteran, receiving the Purple Heart Award,  and was a former member of the Franklinton American Legion and a lifetime member of Wake Union Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Mason Holden, and his sisters, Ola Jackson and Ida Holden. 

Surviving: daughters, Judy Holden Hill (John) of Rock Hill, S.C., Ginny Holden Keith (Charles) of Youngsville; sons, Neil Holden (Deborah) of Youngsville and Randy Holden (fiancé, Carol) of Youngsville; sister, Susie Williams of Rolesville; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
