ROANOKE RAPIDS- Hubert Ray Parrish, 92, died Monday, Jan. 18, 2010.  A memorial service with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday, Jan. 20) in the Askew Funeral & Cremation Services chapel in Roanoke Rapids, with the Rev. Henry Stephens officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A private family burial will be held at a later date.

He was a native of Nash County, the son of the late Charlie Hillard Parrish and Lucy Ida Lucas Parrish.  He was a US Army veteran, serving his country for five years during WWII.  He was the long-time owner of Parrish Realty and a former member of East 10th Street Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his son, Keith Ray Parrish; six sisters and five brothers.

Surviving: wife, Edith Hope Moore “Cookie” Parrish;  his daughter, Cathy Parrish Myers of Youngsville; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
