WAKE FOREST - Mary Helen Gordon Layton, 91, died Friday, Feb. 26, 2010 at Hillside Nursing Center. Funeral services were held Monday, March 1, in the chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Harris Chapel Baptist Church cemetery.

Surviving: daughter, Barbara L. Macon (George) of Wake Forest; sons, Richard T. Layton (Faye) and Gordon Layton (Linda) of Louisburg; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Katie Gordon; her husband, Jack Thomas (J.T.) Layton; and sisters, Margaret G. Driver, Ruth G. Pruitt and Rowena G. Keith.
