FRANKLINTON-George R. “Buddy” McCarty, 71, of southern Granville County, died  Thursday, June 24, 2010. Funeral service was held Monday afternoon, June  28, at Oxford Presbyterian Church, Oxford, with  the Rev. Alan Koeneke officiating. Burial followed at Wake Forest Cemetery.

He was born in Athens, Ga. He worked at various jobs including the Wake County Public School System, Orkin Exterminating Company and McCarty Exterminating Company in Birmingham, Ala. He served in the Air Force for four years in the National Security Service Division.

Surviving: wife, Sis, of Granville County; son, Michael McCarty (Ronda) of Granville County;   sister, Peggy Clem of Apex; 19 nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Tim McCarty.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made be made to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
