ZEBULON - Jerry Wayne Mitchell, Sr., 68, of 501 Gay Road, died Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at his home. He was born in Franklin County, the son of the late Myrtle Jackson Mitchell and Durwood Lellon Mitchell.

He was a retired certified medical technician at John Umstead Hospital and was owner and operator of Mitchell’s Food Mart & Tackle.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today (Saturday, July 10) in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Mike Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Mitchell Family Cemetery on Pilot-Riley Road.

He is survived by his wife, Crettie H. Mitchell; step-daughters, Teresa Richards of Zebulon and Michelle Hill (David) of Wilson; sister, Shirley Wood of Greensboro; one granddaughter; and one grandchild to be. He was preceded in death by his son, Jerry Wayne Mitchell, Jr.
