MARY J. LANDIS


FRANKLINTON—Mary Louise Jenkins Landis, 71, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010. Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 12, at Rock Spring Baptist Church, Creedmoor. Burial was in the church cemetery.

She was born in Granville County, daughter of the late Johnnie Evander Jenkins Sr. and Addie Jones Jenkins. She attended Granville County Schools and graduated from G. C. Hawley High School. After graduation, she completed seamstress classes and worked at a clothing factory in Baltimore, Md. She was retired from the Shirt Factory and Murdoch Center.

In addition to her husband, Andrew Earl Landis, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Johnnie Jenkins Jr. and Charlie Lewis Jenkins; one sister, Addie M. J. Mangum; and two sons, Andrew Shirome Landis and Dina Landis.

Surviving: daughter, Brenda J. Estes (Marvin Sr.); sons, O’Shea Landis (Ann) and Ricky Landis of the home, and Davie Landis of Brooklyn, N.Y.;  one brother, Major Samuel Jenkins; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
