LOUISBURG – Thelma Clifton Murphy, 89, of Louisburg, died Sunday morning.

Mrs. Murphy was a daughter of the late John Robert and Mattie Strickland Clifton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold R. Murphy, Sr.; sister, Hortense C. Alford; and her brother, John R. Clifton, Jr.

Funeral service was 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rock Spring Baptist Church, with the Rev. Frank Eatman and the Rev. Melton Tyson officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Murphy is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Mary Lou Murphy of Louisburg; granddaughter, Melissa M. Yeazel and husband, Bryan Yeazel of Wake Forest.

The family received friends 7 – 8:30 p.m. Monday at Strickland Funeral Home, Louisburg.
