CASTALIA - Durward Braswell “D.B.” Gardner, Jr., 68, of Castalia, beloved husband, father, brother and Papa, died Thursday, September 30, 2010, at Rex Healthcare.  He is the son of the late Durward B. & Esther Leonard Gardner.  He was also preceded in death by his sister, June G. Smart.  He was a lifelong farmer who enjoyed his spot on Gardner Farms.  Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Cedar Rock First Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Ricks Boone officiating.  Entombment will follow in Lancaster Memorial Park Mausoleum.

He is survived by his wife, Judy House Gardner; his daughter, Janine Gardner Morgan and husband, Richard of Louisburg; his brother, Bob Gardner and wife, Patsy of Castalia; two grandchildren, Hunter and McKenzie Morgan; and many very special nieces and nephews. 

The family received friends Friday night from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services, 804 N. Bickett Boulevard, Louisburg, and at all other times at the home. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Cedar Rock First Baptist Church, 4879 NC Hwy 56 E., Castalia, NC  27816.
