YOUNGSVILLE —Charles Edward “Charlie” Mewkill Jr., 84, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010 at Rex Hospital.  A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. today (Saturday, Nov. 27) in the chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Wake Forest Cemetery.

He was born in Wappingers Falls, N.Y., son of the late Charles Edward Mewkill Sr. and Edith Vanvoorhis Mewkill, and was a member of Wake Forest Presbyterian Church.

Surviving: wife, Jane Brocker Mewkill; children, Charles Edward “Charley” Mewkill III of Pittsfield, N.H., Jean Mewkill DeSanctis of Cary and Bob Mewkill (Susan) of Wake Forest; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 S. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Friends may visit with the family from 12-1 p.m. prior to the funeral at Bright Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 405 S. Main St., Wake Forest.
