BRUCE DAVID LIESEGANG


RALEIGH — The fish in Kerr Lake are resting easier these days as one of their fiercest predators has gone to be with The Lord. Bruce David Liesegang died Tuesday, October 24th at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.

Bruce was born March 25, 1953 in Endicott, New York to the late Walter and Dorothy Liesegang. He grew up in upstate New York with a love of fishing and the outdoors. He moved with his family to Raleigh in 1966 and graduated from Sanderson High School and Western Carolina University. He married Jennifer Louise Sears in 1980 and they had two children, Sara, 14, and Benjamin, 12, to whom he passed along his love of animals and the outdoors. Bruce was a long-time employee of IBM until the time of his death.

He will be missed by his lifetime friend, Jennifer and children, Sara and Ben of Wake Forest; his brother, Wayne and his wife Darla of Raleigh; nephews, David Liesegang, his wife Jennifer and son Ted of Carrboro; and Jason Liesegang and his wife Christie and sons Evan, Justin and Jason Jr. of Richmond, Virginia; niece Jennifer Basil; and daughters Dana and Ariel of Raleigh, who all dearly loved their “Uncle Bruie”.

A gathering for family and friends will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 29 at Bruce’s property at 1047 West River Rd, Louisburg, NC 27549. Arrangements by Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 St. Mary’s Street, Raleigh NC 27605.
