WILLIS R. LANGDON


FOUR OAKS - Willis “Rudolph” Langdon, 87, died Thursday, May 12, 2011 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, May 15, at First Baptist Church, Four Oaks, with the Rev. John Norman officiating. Burial followed in Four Oaks Cemetery.

He was born in Johnston County, the son of the late Lester and Julia Ann Lassiter Langdon. He was a WWII veteran who served from 1942 to 1946 in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific. He retired in 1986 with more than 30 years of service as a rural letter carrier for Four Oaks.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Beatrice Stephenson, Alice Stephenson and Maggie Norris; brothers, Theodore Langsdon, Aaron Langsdon and Otha Langsdon.

Surviving: wife, Floy Mae Cooke Langdon of the home; daughters, Patsy Cummings of Youngsville and Annette Carroll of Raleigh; son, Rick Langdon of Four Oaks; sister, Ophelia Langdon; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to First Baptist Church Four Oaks Pre-School Program, 403 North Main Street, Four Oaks, NC 27524 or to SECU Hospice House, 426 Hospital Road, Smithfield, NC 27577.
