RALEIGH - Clarence Rudolph Fleming, 83, of Raleigh, died Monday morning, May 23, 2011 at Franklin Oaks in Louisburg.

Funeral Service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service Wednesday.

A native of Franklin County, Clarence was born December 9, 1927, the son of the late Norwood Branch Fleming and Hattie Vaughan Fleming. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict and was awarded the Purple Heart. Clarence was a member of Longview Baptist Church, Franklinton American Legion Post #52 and retired from Central Prison after 30 years service.

Clarence is survived by his sister, Beverly F. Ramey and her husband Costello of Franklinton, and his feline companion “Miss Kitty,” as well as several special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Madeline Pulley Fleming and a sister, Margaret Delionbach.
