YOUNGSVILLE - Addie Louise Melvin Terry, 83 died Sunday, May 22, 2011. A memorial service celebrating her life was held Thursday, May 26, at St. Mary’s Free Will Baptist Church in New Bern.

Born in Tallahassee, Fla., she was the daughter of the late Rev. Henry Melvin and Leola Melvin. She graduated from Durham High School, and after raising her family, she went back to school, receiving her B.S. in Education and then her Master’s from ECU. She spent 25 years teaching kindergarten at Bridgeton Elementary School.

Surviving: children, Florence Terry Hayes (Mack) of Youngsville; son, Thomas Terry (Gloria) of Washington Court House, Ohio, Patricia Mangin (Joseph) of Hendersonville, Tenn.; brother, Billy Melvin (Darlene) of Englewood, Fla.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made to the FWB Children’s Home, P. O. Box 249, Middlesex, NC 27557.
