LOUISBURG – Thelma Gay, 86, of Louisburg, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday evening.

Ms. Gay was a daughter of the late Williford Snow and Clellie Privette Gay. She was preceded in death by her son, Walter E. Baker, Jr. “Walt Jr.”; sister, Ellie Belle Gay; brothers, Presley Gay, Jarvis Gay and Hilliard Gay, Sr.

A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pearce Baptist Church Cemetery.

Ms. Gay is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Jo Ann B. and Frank Peoples of Garner, Brenda and Ted Arnold of Louisburg; sister, Christine G. Byrum of Raleigh; grandchildren, Jennifer C. Peoples, Daniel P. Peoples, Lisa A. Tuck, and Audrey A. Preddy; 3 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Cr., Raleigh, NC 27607.

The family received friends 7 – 8:30 p.m. Monday at Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, Louisburg.
