LOUISBURG - James Garfield “Jimmie” Sullivan, 76, died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, in Pinewood Memorial Park.

A native of Pitt County, he lived his early life in Ahoskie. He received an undergraduate and graduate degree in geology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and did much work on a doctorate at the University of Wisconsin at Madison.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
