JAMES C. WRENN


LOUISBURG - James Cleveland Wrenn, 91, died Friday, Oct. 28, 2011.  Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 1, at Trinity United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Kellie Gallagher-Smith officiating.  Burial followed in the church cemetery.

He was born in Warren County, the son of the late Eugene Cleveland and Minnie Rae Woodlief Wrenn. He married Nannie Leonard on November 26, 1938 and they lived in Franklin County until moving to Newport News, Va. during World War II where he worked in the shipyard. Following the war, they returned to Louisburg where he began working in the car business.  He was the owner and operator of Quality Auto Sales in Louisburg and also spent some time farming on the side.

He was preceded in death by his brother, George Wrenn; sisters, Eunice Spencer, Gladys Watkins, Lona Ayscue, Ella Bailey and Myrt Wrenn. 

Surviving: wife, Nannie Leonard Wrenn; children, Martha Skeans (Clark) of Scottsdale, Ariz., Betty Burnette of Louisburg, Gwynda Gould (Tom) of Holly Springs, James Wrenn, Jr. (Carlee) of Alexandria, Va., and Melanie Armstrong (John) of Lincoln, Neb.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; siblings, Mack Wrenn, Mildred Smith, Dot Clay and Jean Johnson, all of Louisburg, and Lillian Pennisi of Raleigh; many nieces and nephews.

Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services are handling arrangements.
