HILLSBOROUGH— Alastair Lennox Muirhead died Friday, Nov. 4, 2011 at his horse farm in Hillsborough. Services for the family were private.

He served in the U.S. Army in WWII and graduated from UNC in Chapel Hill. He owned and operated William Muirhead Construction Company of Durham.

He was predeceased by his mother, Constance Lennox Muirhead, and his father, William Muirhead of Durham.

Surviving: wife, Elizabeth H. Muirhead; son, William Muirhead II (Pam) of Franklinton; daughter, Meg Mansfield (Brian) of Raleigh; sister, Patricia Hobbs of Chapel Hill; and two grandchildren.
