STEVE OLIVER “ROCK” TERRY
FRANKLINTON - Steve “Rock” Terry, age 45, went to be with the Lord on May 1, 2012 after a brave battle with Friedreichs Ataxia, a rare form of muscular dystrophy. Steve was born is Baltimore, MD, but relocated with his parents to Franklinton, NC when he was 3 years old. He is the son of the late “Buddy” Oliver Banks Terry and Jackie Wells Terry.

In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his grandmother, Daisy Terry Carter; his niece, Tasha Elizabeth Yeaton; grandfather, Alfred Banks Terry; and his beloved companion, Ethelle Haus.

Steve is survived by his sisters, Vicki Gupton (Clyde), Dru Wollman (Stewart), Denise Harris (Mike); niece, Christy Fuller (Jerry); nephews, Rob Preddy, Timmy Yeaton (Lisa), Jeremy Wollman; aunts, Glenda Fogle (Tom), Lillian Smithson and Pat McCarron; uncle, Charles Wells; many cousins, great-nephews, nieces and special friends.

Steve graduated with a standing ovation from Franklinton High School in 1984. He then attended Vance-Granville Community College for two years. He was a paper route carrier for The Franklin Times for 15 years.

When Steve’s health severely declined, he was moved to Franklin Oaks in Louisburg where he was loved and cared for by the entire staff. Special attention was given to him by his caseworker, Amy Ball, during his four-year stay.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 3, at Fairview Cemetery in Franklinton.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Perry’s Chapel Baptist Church, 854 Perry’s Chapel Church Road, Franklinton, NC 27525.
