GARNER - Martha Averette “Peggy” Baker, 76, died Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Wake Medical Center. A graveside service was held Friday, May 11, at Brier Creek Memorial Gardens.

A native of Sampson County, she was the daughter of the late Roy Vernon and Dora Wheeler Averette.

Surviving: daughter, Patricia Baker Babb (Thomas) of Holly Springs; sons, Michael Baker, W. Cecil Baker (Deborah) and W. Eugene Baker Jr., all of Garner; sisters, Mabel Cashwell of Raleigh, Edith Sorrell of Durham and Jewel Sauls of Garner; brother, Edwin Hunter Averette of Franklinton; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Eugene Baker Sr.
