JAMES H. “JAKE” PARHAM


FRANKLINTON - James Howard “Jake” Parham, 83, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2006, at Maria Parham Hospital. Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, Dec. 20) in the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church cemetery, with the Rev. David Averette officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.

Born in Vance County, he was the son of the late John Howard Parham and Nettie Thompson Parham. Mr. Parham was an Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving: his wife, Vera Hight Parham; daughters, Barbara (Calvin) Johnston of Henderson and Sandra Parham (Donald) of Roxboro; sons, James Howard Parham Jr. (Donna) of Franklinton, and Dick (Kay P.) Parham of Raleigh; sisters, Dareen Bennett of Raleigh and Joyce Davis of Courtland, Va.; a brother, Bobby Parham of Franklinton; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Franklinton Baptist Church or to Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.
