YOUNGSVILLE —JoAnn Godbee Zipperer, 82, died Saturday, June 30, 2012 at WakeMed. A graveside service was held Tuesday, July 3, at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.

She was raised in Savannah, Ga., where she attended Savannah High School and Armstrong State College. She spent many years in volunteer work with numerous organizations. Her last several years were spent at Hillside Nursing Center of Wake Forest.

Surviving: daughter, Patricia Z. Ray (Kelly) of Youngsville; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert I. Zipperer Sr.; son, Robert I. Zipperer Jr.; and brother, Herschel Willcox Godbee.

In lieu of flowers, memorials donations may be sent to the Friends of the Youngsville Library, 218 US 1A Hwy., Youngsville, NC 27596.
