EDSEL H. PRIVETTE


RALEIGH - Edsel Howard Privette, 85, died at his home Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012. Funeral service was held Thursday, Oct. 18, at Montlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, Raleigh, with the Rev. Jay C. James officiating.

He was born in Franklin County to the late Walter Ivan Privette and Nettie Pearce Privette. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from the NC Department of Agriculture as a Standards Keeper. At one time, he played professional baseball for the Brooklyn Dodgers.

Surviving: wife, Peggy Lou Gargis Privette; sister, Rose P. Bunch of Raleigh; and a number of special nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Denimal F. Privette, Dillard Privette, Thomas Vaden Privette, Walter Kearney Privette; sisters, Rona Belle P. Gay, Helen P. Dean, Alice P. Edwards and Alease P. Barwick.
