LOUISBURG - Charlie Morise Evans, age 84, of Louisburg, NC died peacefully at home Wednesday morning after an extended illness.  Funeral services were held Friday, December 28th, at 11:00 a.m. at Louisburg United Methodist Church.  The family received friends one hour prior to the service in the Fellowship Hall of the church.  Burial followed in Lancaster Memorial Park. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Madison Evans and Mary M. Evans Vester Hill of Franklin County, a sister, Adel Evans Finch, and brother-in-law, Malcom Finch of Youngsville. 

He grew up on a farm in the Ingleside Community.  Some of his earlier pastime activities as a boy and young adult were hunting and the love of the outdoors.  In later years, he enjoyed the fellowship of friends and members of the Mitchiners Pond Fishing Club.

He was a 1947 graduate of Epsom High School, where he graduated with honors as Valedictorian of his class.  Morise served in the NC National Guard in the 50’s.  In the earlier years of his career, he worked for the Franklin County ASCS and Granville County Soil Conservation Service.  He later began a career as an insurance adjuster, first with MIC, then became associated with The Kemper Group.  He worked with Kemper for more than 30 years and retired in 1996 as claims supervisor.  In the 80’s, he was elected President of the Raleigh Claims Associations.   From 1992-2003, he served as President of Franklin Broadcasting Company, Inc. of Louisburg, a family owned business.

Morise was a devoted husband and father.  He loved his family and was known for his “silent strength”. Surviving are his loving wife of 57 years, Mollie Burnette Evans, and two sons, Charlie M. (Chuck) Evans, Jr. and John B. Evans and wife, Michelle Hicks-Evans, all of Louisburg; one granddaughter, Brittany Leigh Evans of Raleigh, and step-granddaughter, Courtney Jones Mahoney and husband, Mike; and two step-great-grandchildren of Clayton.  

The family wishes to express appreciation to caregivers, Joyce Greene, Debbie G. Terrell, Earlie Foster and the Wake County Hospice team for their dedication and support during his final days.  Special appreciation to all our family members and friends for your love, support and prayers.
