BETTY L. MEDLIN


KURE BEACH - Betty Lou Medlin, 65, died unexpectedly Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, Jan. 17) at Kure Beach First Baptist Church, with Pastor Joey Canady officiating. A brief graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, at Gethsemane Memorial Park, Zebulon.

She was born in Nash County, daughter of the late T. T. Perry and Lula E. Parrish Perry. Mrs. Medlin was raised in Zebulon, one of nine children. She had worked in several restaurants in Raleigh and was mayor of Kure Beach for 12 years. She was preceded in death by her infant twin daughter.

Surviving: husband, P. V. Medlin; daughters, Betty H. Brantley (Ricky) of Zebulon and Rhonda H. Smith (Scott) of McGees Crossroads; stepdaughter, Pamela Medlin Keith (Clifton); stepson, Tony Medlin (Diane); sisters, Jean Hunt, Theresa Pulley, Carolyn Chamblee and Sonja Estes, all of Raleigh; brothers, Hulon Perry of Youngsville, George Perry of Wilmington, and Steve Perry of Zebulon; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; and three step-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, she would be honored by donations in her memory to Kure Beach First Baptist Church, 208 S. 6th Ave., Kure Beach, NC 28449.
