JOSEPH C. ELLINGTON


CREEDMOOR - Joseph Conger Ellington, 75, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2007 at the home of his daughter in Kittrell. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Jan. 14, in the J.M. White Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Aubrey Florence. Burial with military honors followed in Sunset Gardens.

Born in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Willie and Dora Pearl Strickland Ellington. He was a retired veteran of the United States Air Force, having served for 25 years.

Surviving: his wife, Lillian Watkins Ellington of the home; daughters, Jo Ann Wells of Winter Garden, Fla., Tina E. Murray of Henderson, and Lisa E. Rosehart of Kittrell; stepsons, Joseph Watkins and Wayne Watkins, both of Creedmoor; sisters, Jean Ayscue and Faye Cash, both of Henderson; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Ann Pendergrass Ellington; a son, Anthony Ellington; and a grandson.
