QUINTON C. CANNADY


FRANKLINTON —Quentin Cortez Cannady,  46, formerly of Franklinton, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 in Baltimore, Md. Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 16, at First Baptist Church in Franklinton, with the Rev. André Johnson officiating. Interment followed in Fairview Cemetery, Franklinton.

He was born in Durham to Annie Cannady and the late Willie Burch. He was educated in the Franklin County Public School System and was a 1984 graduate of Franklinton High School. He attended Devry Institute of Technology of Atlanta, Ga. and later joined the U.S. Navy for four years, where he served as a technical specialist. When he returned to civilian life, he worked as an audio/visual electronics engineer.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Margie Bobbitt and Frank and Elizabeth Allen.

Surviving: mother, Annie Cannady of Franklinton; daughter, Shamika S. Brooks (Sherry) of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandfather, Willie Bobbitt of Wake Forest; stepsisters, Evelyn Jones of Bunn, Angela Walker of Franklinton, Jacqueline Steward of Durham, Carolyn Todd of Zebulon, and Jalesa Todd of Providence, R.I.; stepbrother, Walter Williams of New Jersey; and a host of other relatives and friends.
