CHARLES E. PENDER


FRANKLINTON— Charles Earl Pender, 71, died Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Franklin Regional Medical Center in Louisburg. Service was conducted at Kinches Chapel Church, 1066 Gordon Moore Road, Franklinton, on Wednesday, July 17, with the Rev. Diane Reeder officiating.

He was born in Durham County, the son of the late Charlie Edward and Nettie Sneed Pender. After the death of his mother, he was raised by his father and stepmother, the late Margaret Pender. He was educated in the Philadelphia Catholic School and church and the Brooklyn Public School System. Later in life, he returned to North Carolina and was employed by the City of Raleigh Sanitation Department for many years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Mark Tracy Pender.

Surviving: children, Raanee Shabazz of Jamaica-Queens, NY, Earl Pender and Stephen E. Pender, both of Willingboro, N.J.; stepchildren, Daisy Carroll and Reggie Sneed; stepmother, Juanita Pender of Wallace; sisters, Edna Michaels (Jimmy) of Philadelphia, Pa., Jeraldine Cooper (Jeff) of Florida, Pamela Pender-Wilson of Wallace and Sharon Manley of Teachey; and eight grandchildren. Also survived by the mother of his children, Ruth E. Pender.
