ARTHUR E. MASSEY II


FAYETTEVILLE - Retired U.S. Army Sgt. Maj. Arthur Edward Massey II, 79, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007 in the North Carolina State Veterans Nursing Home. His family celebrates his life at a visitation at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home from 9:30-11 a.m. today (Saturday, Feb. 3).

Interment with the rendering of full military honors will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va.

Mr. Massey was born in Alexandria, Va. He served in WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He earned two purple hearts and other medals. After retirement, he earned a degree in horticulture and worked at Womack Army Hospital.

Surviving: his wife, Jean Lois Langley Massey of Fayetteville; his children, Arthur Edward Massey III of Texas, Lorna Massey Nelson (Bruce) of Youngsville, Cara June Massey of New Bern, James Douglas Massey of Asheville, Kathleen Massey Marks (Elliott) of Mebane; and four grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his only sibling, Gertrude Emmons of Maryland.
