ESSIE D. SNEED


CREEDMOOR—Essie Evora Dickens Sneed died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014 at the home of her daughter, Linnie M. Jenkins of Creedmoor. Services were held Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Rock Spring Missionary Baptist Church, Creedmoor, with the Rev. Paulette Jenkins officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

She was born to the late Richard and Carrie Cross Dickens in Bunn and was educated in the Franklin County public school system.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Odie Sneed Sr.; one son, Odie Sneed Jr.; brothers, G. W. and Richard Dickens; and one sister, Catherine Crudup.

Surviving: daughters, Barbara S. Gross of Capitol Heights, Md., Linnie M. Jenkins of Creedmoor, Annie S. Daniels (Eugene) of Springsdale, Md., Vera S. Montague of Durham, Sheila S. Lyons of Oxford, and Learnetta J. Speed (Dannie) of Creedmoor; son, Otha Lee Sneed (Theresa) of Franklinton; stepson, Bruce Teasley of Oxford; sister, Vera Dickens Ginyard of Greenville; 11 grandsons and five granddaughters; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great-grandchildren.
