WAKE FOREST - James Robert Smith, 83, died Saturday, June 28, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 5, at Friendship Chapel Baptist Church in Wake Forest. Burial followed in the Alston Massenburg Cemetery in Wake Forest.

Surviving: wife, Ella B. Smith of the home; 10 children, Lawrence Williams and Janice Smith, both of Raleigh, Wayne Smith (Brenda) and Alberta Mitchell, both of Louisburg, James E. Smith, Ronald Smith (Brenda), Ella Wilkerson (Harry), and Detra Cheek (Marlin), all of Wake Forest, Albert Smith (Darlene) of Wendell and Donald Smith (Delfa) of Garland, Tex.; sisters, Mary Wiggins of Youngsville and Seleria Smith of Washington, D.C.; 37 grandchilden; 56 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
