FRANKLINTON —Edwin Hunter Averette, 83, of Franklinton, formerly of Raleigh, died at his home Sunday morning, July 27, 2014. Services to celebrate his life will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, at Franklinton Baptist Church.

Born in Granville County, he was the son of the late Roy and Dora Averette and served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the General Services Administration and the US Department of Agriculture, where he worked as an HVAC tech and in general maintenance of federal facilities. He also worked as a lineman with CP&L and as an independent refrigeration contractor. He was a member, deacon, and Sunday School teacher at Franklinton Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Clora Britt Averette, as well as four brothers and four sisters.

Surviving: his daughters, Kathy Jones of Randleman, N.C., Becky Trevillian (Jim) of Youngsville, and Nancy Garvey (Chris) of Durham; a son, David Averette (Dottie) of Franklinton; sister, Jewel Sauls of Garner; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Franklinton Senior Center or to the charity of your choice.

Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service and one hour following the service.
