WENDELL - George Washington Denton, 74, died Wednesday afternoon, March 7, 2007 at Johnston Memorial Hospital Funeral services were conducted Friday, March 9, at Central Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

He was born in Franklin County, the son of the late Henry K. and Madie Medlin Denton. He was a retired maintenance supervisor with the N.C. Department of Transportation.

Surviving: his wife, Kathleen Earp Denton; son, Tony (Angie) Denton of Farmville; sisters, Pauline Jeans, Kathleen Pipkin, Barbara Ann Wright and Evelyn Driver, all of Zebulon.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dale and Wilson Denton, and a sister, Mavis Denton.
